Dr Shan Nair
Co-Founder
Shan is an Oxford University Ph.D. nuclear physicist and Charter Member
of TiE-Boston with an unusual mixed high technology/software and accounting
background.
He started his career as a research scientist in the
UK nuclear industry and was instrumental in developing a code which
set the UK standard for calculating waste arisings from spent nuclear
fuel. When the Chernobyl accident occurred, he was one of the two
UK technical experts assisting the European Commission on its post-accident
response.
Following the privatization of the UK power generation
industry in the early 1990s, he retrained as an accountant within the
industry and then decided to leave to work for himself. After a short
spell as a quality consultant to UK legal practices, he setup Nair & Co
in 1994 jointly with Vyoma Nair.
Shan is responsible for the overall development of the
group, its policies, strategies and goals. He is also responsible for all
quality matters including Nair's Sarbanes-Oxley (SAS-70) certification.
He has driven the company's strong focus on using IT to leverage business
advantage.
Shan has also traveled widely and lived in 13 countries in
South East Asia, Europe and the Middle East, becoming multi-lingual in the
process and mixing in different cultural milieus, placing him in an excellent
position to understand international issues.
Shan’s main hobbies are reading, politics and amateur motor car racing.

Vyoma Nair
Co-Founder
Vyoma has over 25 years of experience with finance, legal and human resources
issues relating to foreign subsidiaries of US companies. Her first involvement
in this area was in 1984 when she played a lead role in enabling a major US insurer
to extricate itself from a failed UK acquisition.
After graduation and a short research career at Oxford University when she dated
moon rocks, Vyoma joined Peat Marwick Mitchell and Company (now part of KPMG) and
qualified in 1980 as a UK Chartered Accountant. In 1981 she moved to the London
based Chartered Accountancy arm of Horwarth and Horwarth International (Stoy Hayward
and Company in the UK) as its Technical and Training Manager and from here into commerce.
Vyoma has an encyclopaedic knowledge and understanding of finance, HR, legal and
administration issues for companies starting up foreign operations outside their
home country. Her knowledge base spans a wide range of countries in EMEA, APAC and
CALA. She single handedly recruited and developed many of Nair & Co’s current management
team and wrote all of the firm’s major technical templates.
Vyoma has also travelled widely and lived in Europe and the Middle East and is fluent
in several languages. Her main hobbies are ancient history, embroidery and cooking.

Geoff Darby
Consultant to the Board
Geoff has over 30 years experience with both domestic
(Compaq, IBM, Rockwell) and International (Unilever, Forasol-Foramer)
companies and has worked in over 20 countries. In 1976 he moved
to the United States and has been involved at a senior level in
building technology companies in Silicon Valley taking three companies
public as Chief Financial Officer. His last company Redback Networks
achieved one of the most successful IPO’s in the history of NASDAQ
in 1999. Geoff graduated from Southampton University with a BSc(hons)
in Mechanical Engineering and is a Fellow of the UK Chartered Institute
of Management Accountants. He is again back into marathon training
and loves racing his Chilli Red Mini Cooper S in his spare time.

Otto Berlin
Consultant to the Board
Otto Berlin is CEO/Founder of Global Impact Partners, a sales effectiveness consulting
firm. Otto has extensive global experience within the communication industry sector, both
in Europe and the Far East. He specialises in sales effectiveness consulting for high
technology companies, helping them develop business strategies for tapping global markets
and then entering these markets. Current clients include: Network Appliance and Symantec.
Previously CEO of Silicon Valley/Vancouver based TELOS Technologies, Inc. Otto enjoys travel
for family, golf and holiday.

Manoj George
Consultant to the Board
Manoj George is an experienced executive with a track
record of success through effective leadership. Previously he served
as the President of Art.com, Inc where he positioned the Company
to venture funding and to its subsequent acquisition. During his
tenure, Art.com increased its annual revenue six hundred percent
and its enterprise value by ten times. Prior to Art.com, Manoj served
as the founding CFO for Red Hat, Inc. He joined the company with
less than twenty five employees and helped lead it to a global enterprise
with seven hundred and fifty employees in over twelve countries.
He oversaw the various funding events including the successful IPO
and follow-on offerings as well as nine acquisitions and integrations.
In the CFO role at Red Hat, in addition to the finance and administration,
he lead the technology and production group while achieving revenue
growth from less than one million to over sixty million. Manoj started
out his career as a public accountant with the regional firm of
Hayflich and Steinberg in Huntington, West Virginia. He holds undergraduate
and graduate degrees from Morehead State University and is a Certified
Public Accountant. In his spare time Manoj hangs out with his kids
and feeds the menagerie of pets his kids have accumulated over the
years.

Steve Roderick
Chief Operating Officer
Steve Roderick has been with Nair & Co since 1999 and has over 15 years experience of
working in practice and industry. Steve has experience in the areas of corporate compliance
and taxation and has extensive knowledge of how these aspects affect US companies with
startup operations in Europe and Pacific Rim countries. Steve is both a qualified chartered
accountant (ACA) and tax advisor (CTA) which he obtained after graduating with a BSc from
the University of Wales, Swansea. Steve is a high handicap golfer who does not play as much
as he would like and has run a number of marathons including London four times.

Stephen Wares
Vice President Business Development
Stephen joined Nair & Co in 1999 and partnered Deborah Sullivan as an accounting manager
until he relocated to our US office in August 2004. Stephen has extensive experience of the
real life problems that startup operations encounter when expanding internationally and knowledge
of the ways in which Nair & Co can help companies plan to avoid them. Based in our Silicon Valley
office, Stephen is the first point of contact for all companies looking to establish what
immediate value-add Nair & Co can provide for them. Prior to joining Nair & Co Stephen spent many
years working in Italy and speaks fluent Italian. Stephen is a graduate of the University of Wales,
Cardiff, a UK qualified accountant and an avid guitar player.

Richard Austin
Client Services Director
Richard has extensive experience of tax structure/intercompany, stock
options, indirect taxation (VAT, GST, consumption tax) and expat issues
across Europe, Japan and Pacific Rim countries. This includes determining
the optimum international tax structure for a given situation, setting
up the entities and the intercompany agreement infrastructure, advising
on indirect taxation issues and putting in place tax equalisation
packages when expats are sent abroad. Richard is also familiar with
compliance and HR issues as they affect Nair & Co's clients. He has
been with Nair & Co since 2001, is both a qualified chartered accountant
(ACA) and tax advisor (CTA) which he obtained after graduating from the
University of Wales, Cardiff. Richard used to play Cricket for Whitchurch
Heath to quite a high standard and still does play golf to a very low standard!

Stuart Buglass
Client Services Director
Stuart is qualified in law having attained his LLB at Leicester University
followed by the LPC at the College of Law, York. Having joined Lloyds-TSB
bank on their fast track management scheme, and undertaking assignments in
legal, marketing, and finance, Stuart decided to specialize in HR attaining
the CIPD qualification and holding a number of senior HR positions before
joining Nair & Co. Stuart has been instrumental in the development of the Nair
& Co HR service and currently operates as one of our Client Service Directors.
When his three young children finally go to bed Stuart spends time painting and
running.

Deborah Sullivan
Client Services Director
Debbie joined Nair & Co in September 1999, after a role with the UK Home Office;
she graduated with a BSc in Accounting Practice from the University of Wales,
Newport and is also a qualified accountant (ACCA). Her roles within Nair have
included Accounting Manager and Head of Accounting Services where she was
responsible for the provision of day-to-day support to all Nair & Co clients.
The outsourcing teams she managed covered service situations ranging from the
simplest one man/one country startups to scenarios involving 50 employees in 6
or 7 countries in EMEA, APAC, CALA, Canada or Australia. Deborah has acquired
considerable experience of “untangling” situations where multi-country management
accounts have been incorrectly kept or handled - the perfect grounding her role
as Client Services Director. Debbie enjoys foreign travel owning a property in
Cyprus, although there never seems enough time to enjoy it to the full!

Venkat Eswaran
Chief of India Operations
Venkat is a qualified Indian Chartered Accountant with extensive experience of
multi-country management accounting to US GAAP. Venkat joined Nair & Co in 2003
having previously been a partner in a well established firm of Chartered Accountants
based in Mumbai. He is responsible for Nair & Co’s India office where accounts with
high volume transactions are generally processed. He is also an expert on India
compliance issues as they affect the software and outsourcing operations of foreign
companies with subsidiaries in India seeking to take advantage of India's generous
tax rules in free trade zones. Venkat loves the outdoors and can be found either at
the beach or trekking in the mountains during his spare time.

Jody Fullman
Director of IT
Jody qualified at the University of Wales Swansea with a BEng (Hons),
then immediately joined Northgate Information Solutions, formerly known
as McDonald Douglas Information Systems on their fast track graduate scheme
where he gained extensive network security and technical design experience.
He was then rapidly promoted out of the graduate scheme and permanently placed as
a technical specialist at a number key central London based client sites
furthering both his technical and infrastructure management experience. Joining
Nair & Co in 2001 and completing his Microsoft certification, he designed and
built our global IT infrastructure from the ‘ground up’ always taking the most
risk adverse approach. IT plays a critical role in Nair & Co’s overall business
strategy and Jody’s team ensures IT specific Sarbanes Oxley (SAS-70) compliance
across the group and service of all our employees IT requirements on a global,
24/7 basis. He spends his spare time training for marathons and longing for the
next ski season to arrive.
