Nair & Co. is in the process of transitioning to SSAE 16 - the new attestation standard,
which replaces the previous leading standard for guidance regarding assurance reports
for service organizations, SAS70. The aim of this Statement on Standards for Attestation
Engagements (SSAE) is to evidence, by way of engaging an external audit firm to
independently review, test and report on our procedures and systems, that Nair &
Co. systems and controls relevant to our client's internal control over financial
reporting are designed and operate effectively throughout the entire period under
review. The transition to SSAE 16 will be completed in 2012.
This move underscores Nair & Co.’s effort to be 'ahead of the curve' in adopting
international best practices, ensuring our clients and their auditors can rely on
our services and receive the most effective, efficient and secure service delivery
from our teams here at Nair & Co.
As Nair & Co is currently a Type II SAS70 certified service provider, and has been
for several years, clients can already rely on the design and operation of sound
internal controls over their financial reporting data. In turn, this enables the
client auditors to plan their financial statements audits with this assurance in
mind. Put simply, client auditors are able to rely on our SAS70/SSAE16 attestation
and thus avoid the need for any additional work that may otherwise have been required
as part of the client's year end audit of their financial statements.
Nair & Co.’s accounting and support teams’ operations come under the purview of
SSAE 16 statement on controls and therefore our Type II SSAE 16 accreditation will
continue to provide optimal assurance to our clients that their data is protected
in line with international industry standards and that controls over financial reporting
are designed and operated effectively throughout the year, as put forth by the American
Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
